Book review: Creative Struggle

Recently published, Creative Struggle: illustrated advice from masters of creativity is a gem. Gavin Aung Than, whose Zen Pencils blog is the source for this book, takes quotes from great creative minds about the problems they have dealing with MAKING THE THING THAT IS NOT, and he illustrates them. Simple.

He follows each with a brief essay explaining the context of the quote and how it applies to to rest of us.  Than writes clearly and well, and his drawings are witty and evocative.

A great bedside read, and a great gift for the artist in your life who does not already own Lichtenbergianism: procrastination as a creative strategy.
