AYLI, rehearsal 23: ADAM SCENES, SONGS

It was a very slow kind of rehearsal. Due to multiple misunderstandings, not everyone who needed to be there for Craig Humphrey’s drum training was there. We sent him home with baby gifts for his new grandson; he’ll be back on Sunday.

Otherwise, we started getting serious about “Under the wildwood tree” and “It was a lover & his lass.” After we cleared up my confusion over Gary’s transposition of “Wildwood,” it was pretty smooth sailing. The words, as usual, are the stumbling block.

We put in some group effort on the dead deer song, but I’ll end up transcribing/cleaning it all up for Sunday night.

Then Robert and I worked on 2.3 (ORLANDO FLEES) and 2.6 (ADAM FAINTS), Adam’s two scenes with more than one liners. For some reason, our assistant director found our explorations entertaining; she was particularly amused by Adam’s lines, “For in my youth I never did apply / Hot and rebellious liquors in my blood.”
