Fun Friday Resources

Color stuff today, but first go explore electronic music at Ishkur’s Guide to Electronic Music. Who knew there were so many ways to categorize oontz music, as we say at the burns.

Start by heading over to our friends at Public Domain Review and their brilliant history of pigments. (For another charming and readable source, see The Secret Lives of Color, by Kassia St. Clair.)

They also have a good overview of Color Wheels, Charts, and Tables Through History. As always, you can click through to the original sources.

No doubt you already know of the Colorist movement in painting. If not, go check out the scope of the movement. See also: the Color Field movement.

If you have paint or pastels, play with them in the colorist/color field style. STEAL FROM THE BEST. I’ve done that once or twice myself, and it is a very satisfying method of wasting art supplies when you’re not feeling inspired.
