Fun Friday Resources
/As Benjamin Dreyer, the redoubtable editor and author, often says over on Twitter, “Well, at least it’s Friday.” Of course, he usually says it on Wednesday…
Let’s start with the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, who have put more than a thousand of her works online for free viewing. I have been to Santa Fe twice, but the first time the museum was renovating the wing where most of her work is displayed, and the second time I chose to go to the Temples of the Cosmos while the rest of my party went to the O’Keeffe. (Ironically, we caught up with a lot of her work in an exhibit at the Art Gallery of Toronto.)
Over at Open Culture, explore the illustrations from the 1905 Theosophist book Thought Forms. It was Theosophy that inspired Hilma af Klimt to create her stunning works, a generation before Wassily Kandinsky was hailed as the first abstractionist.
Both O’Keeffe and af Klimt are BEST: STEAL FROM them.
If you’re a cocktail aficionado as I am, you have probably tried your hand at creating new drinks. Here’s a handy guide to the safety issues of stuff you might consider putting into your next creation. I definitely need to peruse it!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m sure it’s a National Some-cocktail-or-other Day and I need to prepare. After all, it’s Friday!
