Update on the Build It Burn It workshop

With the Equinox upon us (this Sun, Mar 20), it was serendipitous that I went down to Backstreet Arts this past week to fix an issue with the database (that I had created) and ran into Sarah — if that is even her real name — who built this amazing mini-effigy at the Build It Burn It workshop last December, before the Solstice.

Sarah shared with me photos of her burn, which for one reason or another didn’t actually take place until earlier this month. Hey, we don’t solstice-shame around here.

I had predicted that her design would burn beautifully, and it did:

I choose to ignore the sketchy safety issues with the lighter fluid being squirted directly onto the flaming effigy, but you should probably not do that sort of thing. (We certainly do not do that sort of thing at an actual burn, and we’re dirty freaking hippies (as evidenced in some of the language in the linked video).)

With winter finally out of the way — maybe — it’s on to spring! Bring on the Equinox!
