Oh look, a little waltz!

Last week my cello teacher had her baby, which inspired me to tackle my Ten Little Waltzes by writing a waltz for little Corbett. (Don’t tell her — I want it to be a surprise.)

It’s a simple little thing, the rhythmic shenanigans of mm.15–16 notwithstanding. I’m not sure about the bass line in some of it, and the span required for some of those cross-staff bits is a bit suspect, but I figure anyone who can play Liszt should have no problem with it.

By the way, if you know anyone who can play Liszt, send them my way.

Here’s the (pdf) score.

Here’s the mp3:

The “human playback style” is set to Romantic, but clearly an actual pianist would be better at the rubato and more delicate interpretive bits. Enjoy!
