Fun Friday Resources
/Really boring but vitally important resources this week.
The Harvard Law School Library has preserved many government websites and databases: https://lil.law.harvard.edu/blog/2025/02/06/announcing-data-gov-archive/
GovWayback.com presents an archive of federal websites as they existed up to Jan 20 of this year, i.e., as they were presented by the previous administration. (They redirect to the Internet Archive.)
The University of California at Santa Barbara has 172 databases that are free or open access that you may find useful.
Fine, here’s one fun one: MIT gives you a whole index of jokes about musical instruments.
What's the difference between a viola and a trampoline? You take your shoes off to jump on a trampoline.
What is the range of a viola? As far as you can kick it.
Why is viola called "bratsche" in Germany? Because that's the sound it makes when you sit down on it.
And so forth.
