Fun Friday Resources
/I say in the introduction to Lichtenbergianism: procrastination as a creative strategy that none of what I wrote was new or groundbreaking; every Precept was drawn from my own creative experiences and my observations on how active artists work.
Here to back me up are two authors, Celine Nguyen and Jeff Zych.
Ms. Nguyen launches right into STEAL FROM THE BEST as a strategy for all artists, and then does a deep dive into using the Precept for writing. Long, detailed, but very good advice.
Mr. Zych does such an incredible job of laying out the entire Lichtenbergian structure of creativity that I was a little surprised not to see Lichtenbergianism in the bibliography at the end of the article.
Here’s a STEAL FROM THE BEST resource that simply astonished me: COLOSSAL, an incredible collection of eye-popping art in the categories of Art, Craft, Design, and Photography. And look, they have a shop!
Fair warning: The site is a galactic rabbit hole. You won’t be able to stop exploring. (I guess this makes it a TASK AVOIDANCE resource as well…)
Some favorites:
I was pleasantly surprised to get an email from one Muffin, who was letting me know that they had accepted a brief piece I submitted to their zine a while back. The theme was “Getting Kicked Out,” and I related a contretemps I experienced back in high school involving an in-way-over-her-head first-year teacher and her ill-advised behavior. Go check it out. (You had no idea I was such a rebel, did you?)
