Welcome to the BugVerse!

Here are the adventures of Bug, a plucky little insect exploring the world. Each book has two versions, an screen version and a printable version (legal-size paper, front-and-back) and they’re free. Enjoy!

For each book, there are some tips for those who get to read about Bug to little ones.

Also too: I am conducting an extremely unscientific experiment — if your reader completes Bug’s adventure by drawing on the last page, I’d love for you to participate by sending me a photo/scan of their work. It’s anonymous, and it’s for the greater good of humankind. (Bug wouldn’t have it any other way.)

A Bug’s Lunch

Bug is hungry and looks for food.

Reader tips: Yes, you are supposed to turn the book upside down. (If you’re on a tablet or phone, you’ll want to disable screen rotation.) Encourage the little one to think about what Bug could eat at the end of the book. Allow them to draw it in the book!

A Bug’s Nap

Bug looks for a place to take a nap.

Reader tips: Bug has given reasons for and against each location. Ask the little one to explain why they chose the spot they did, or ask them to suggest other places that might work.

A Bug’s Dream

While napping, Bug has several fun dreams.

Reader tips: Bug’s song references events from the first two books. Encourage your reader to draw them on the page to show what Bug is remembering when he sings. What dream(s) might Bug have still to come?

A Bug’s Friend

Bug visits Butterfly and they talk about things they could do together.

Bug remembers things.
