Fun Friday Resource
/Long-time readers of this blog know that I am a sucker for public domain images, especially archival stuff from centuries past. Sure, I never seem to do anything with them, but I know where to find them if I ever did.
This week it's Public Domain Review, a nifty curated site that gives you great little essays on the material they've found across the intertubes. The image to the left is from a post about a 16th-century publication of bizarre creatures supposed springing from the mind of Rabelais. (That supposition is doubtful.)
Lots of fun stuff here: a caterpillar calendar, esoteric spiritual woo stuff, religious tracts, guides on how to construct letters, American wood, and so much more.
There's audio and video as well. If you've ever wanted to hear Thomas Edison tell an extremely lame joke about a liver, now's your chance.
