Progress of Ten Little Waltzes
/Wait, you thought I meant progress on “Ten Little Waltzes”? Hahahahaha no. There is not a single note of new music since two weeks ago.
Instead, let me show you a wonderful TASK AVOIDANCE that I’ve been working on since last fall.
First, understand that out in the labyrinth I have two in-ground speakers that I hook up to a sound system. The sound system is all little pieces: a ‘marine’ amp, its power brick, an iPad, its stand/keyboard, and cables to attach the two.
That’s a lot of stuff to pick up and take inside after a long evening. I made a bag out of monks cloth a while back (left over from burn purposes), but that thing was so floppy that it was more annoying than useful.
So I decided to make a carrying thing specifically for all those pieces. I started last fall at Backstreet Arts, and since there was no rush — I am rarely out in the labyrinth to chill when it’s cold — I dawdled, until last week. The weather’s getting warmer and I’ve been out there a couple of times, so I made a final push to get everything put together.
And here it is:
It’s canvas, and yes, those are monogrammed labels on each pouch:
Here’s the genius part: sewn into the middle are two pieces of wood, edges sanded down so they don’t wear their way through the canvas, which allows us to…
… stand it up, and then…
…fold in half and secure with Velcro®.
And then….
… it hangs on the hat rack inside the basement door.
So bring it on, spring and summer — I’m ready to chill in the labyrinth.
